THE CITY OF TEXARKANA, ARKANSAS RECEIVES GENERAL IMPROVEMENT FUNDS

The Southwest Arkansas Planning & Development District, Inc. (SWAPDD) presented a check in the amount of $9,276.00 to the City of Texarkana, Arkansas for the purchase of emergency sirens.

These General Improvement Funds were granted to SWAPDD by the Arkansas House of Representatives in order to define, direct, and manage investments that promote community and economic development within Southwest Arkansas.

Representative Steve Harrelson and Renee Dycus, SWAPDD Executive Director, presented the check to Tracie Lee, City of Texarkana Public Works Department, during an awards reception held at the SWAPDD office in Magnolia on July 7, 2010. A total of $356,400.00 was presented to 17 communities.

Recognition and special appreciation is extended to Representative Steve Harrelson for his support in granting both the funding and authority of the State's General Improvement Funds to SWAPDD.

    This is to notify the citizens of Texarkana, Arkansas of the infrastructure projects that will be undertaken with Community Development Block Grant Recovery Funds (Stimulus Funds).

    The following streets will be reconstructed:

    • Ida (Forest) Street from East Street to Line Ferry Road
    • Pearl Street from Vernal to Artesian
    • Pearl Street from Orleans to Cleveland
