Buildling Maintenance Equipment Tech (Bi-State)
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Building Manager, this position is responsible for performing plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and maintenance duties for the Bi-State Justice Center, and other duties as assigned. Quality customer service will be provided at all times. Knowledge or willingness to learn proper maintenance techniques is essential. The job goal is to provide a safe and secure building for the employees and citizens in the Bi-State Justice Center.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Repair of cast iron, copper pipe, pvc, pex and the ability to unclog and repair drains, toilets, sinks, water fountains, toilets and urinal fixtures.
Have the ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, understand 110, 220, 277 and 480 AC control circuits, and be able to replace faulty switches, outlets and circuit breakers. Installation of fluorescent light ballasts, tombstones and fixtures, and the ability to troubleshoot 480 VAC motor controllers and its operations.
Must have a working knowledge of computer controlled automation devices such as chillers, boilers, variable ac drive units, valves, pumps and actuators, be able to operate emergency generator, maintain weekly log sheet and order fuel as needed. Perform routine maintenance on water pumps, motors, air handlers and captive air tanks. Repair and install mechanical, electrical door locks and lock cylinders. Evaluate chill water test analysis and add chemical treatment as required, perform monthly fire pump test. Have the ability to run cable in the ceiling and walls, procurement and installation of analog and network security cameras, RFID proximity readers, and other routine maintenance duties as assigned. Metal fabrication skills are a plus with the use of a wire welder and cutting torch.
You must be able to obtain a minimum requirement of an Arkansas State Boilers License and be able to operate boilers within 6 months of employment.
This position will be on call every fourth week Monday-Sunday. Must live within 20 minutes of the building and be able to work in a jail environment.
Applicant must have a High School Diploma or GED, along with 3 years or more related experience. A valid driver’s license is required. Applicant must present a clean appearance. Applicant cannot have a felony criminal record and will be subject to pass a drug test at any time. This position requires walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds utilizes a team lift. The work requires the ability to work in tight places and work from heights, off a step ladder or extension ladder and long hours on one’s feet.
