Seniors Outreach Program

Seniors Outreach Program, or SOP is a grant program funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service and sponsored by Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Greater Texarkana. The SOP program is to help meet the needs of underserved seniors in Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Miller, Nevada, and Sevier counties in Arkansas and Bowie and Cass counties in Texas.

SOP is for low to moderate income seniors and will help connect them with programs and services that are needed and/or they may be entitled. The SOP Program works with various agencies involved with seniors, including; Area Agencies on Aging, the Department of Human Services, Departments of Health, other county and local officials and many other agencies.

SOP is also looking for volunteers to give a small number of hours each month to help underserved seniors throughout the area. These volunteers are needed to assist with transportation, minor maintenance of homes, pharmaceutical company programs, yard service, be available to make presentations to community organizations on issues pertaining to seniors.
